Early Voting Schedule
In the state of Ohio, citizens can vote up to twenty-nine days before the election, longer if they are in the military or overseas. You can check the full schedule as it is updated, early voting will take place at the MCBOE.
Primary Election
Election Day Voting
- The first Tuesday following the first Monday of May with the exception of the Presidential Primary which is held in March
- Polls open 6:30 A.M.
- Polls close 7:30 P.M.
Early in-person voting
- Begins 29 days prior to the election and ends the day before the election at 2:00 P.M
Absentee voting by mail
- Begins 29 days prior to the election
- Must be postmarked the day before the election or hand delivered to the MCBOE by 7:30 P.M. on the day of the election
Military and overseas absentee voting
- Begins 46 days prior to the election
- Must be postmarked on or before election day
Special Election

Where to Vote Early
You can vote early at the Montgomery County Board of Elections. The MCBOE is located in the basement of the Montgomery County building at 451 W. Third St., Dayton, OH 45422.
How to Get to Early Voting
The entrance to the public parking garage for the MCBOE is located off W. Second St. between the entrance to I-75 South and the Montgomery County Jail. Parking is free for voters coming to Early Voting. Once you have parked, go into the Lobby of the County Building, then follow the signs down the escalators to Early Voting. In most elections, Early Voting will be located in our office on the Mezzanine (basement). In larger, even-year elections Early Voting will be located on the Lower Level.
